Accessibility

Rotto Rackets Sports is designed to be an inclusive and accessible experience, welcoming participants of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels.

Pickleball is a highly accessible sport that is easy to learn, making it ideal for beginners. Since launching, more than 95% of participants have been first-time players, demonstrating its broad appeal and how easy it is for new players to get started.

Our booking and access system is simple and user-friendly, allowing visitors to book and access courts independently. This flexibility supports a wide range of users, including families, groups and individuals seeking a relaxed, self-paced experience.

The environment we create is intentionally low-pressure and social, encouraging participation, connection and enjoyment rather than competition.

The main route from the ferry terminal through the Rottnest Island settlement area towards the Bathurst Point court precinct is via sealed/tarred roads and established pathways. This part of the journey is generally suitable for visitors with accessibility needs.

The key access limitation is the final approach from the road/pathway to the court entrance, which is currently via an existing sand-based path. This section may present challenges for guests using wheelchairs, mobility scooters, prams, walking aids or mobility vehicles.

We recognise this limitation and have begun discussions with the Rottnest Island Authority to understand what improvements may be possible in the future, while respecting the island’s natural environment.

Guests with mobility requirements or accessibility questions are encouraged to contact us before booking so we can provide practical guidance on the current access conditions.

Rotto Rackets Sports is committed to continually improving accessibility and ensuring more people can enjoy active recreation in one of Western Australia’s most unique and iconic destinations.
